George and Dragon Long Hanborough Witney
The George and Dragon, Long Hanborough,

About Us

On 30 January 1965 the body of Sir Winston Churchill arrived at Hanborough railway station on a train hauled by Battle of Britain Class locomotive Winston Churchill.   From Hanborough the funeral cortège proceeded by road to St Martin's Church, Bladon, where he was buried. Long Hanborough is surrounded by beautiful Oxfordshire countryside with some marvellous walks such as Pinsley Woods.

Trains run to Long Hanborough from Oxford with a journey time of only 10 minutes.  The George and Dragon is a short walk from the station.  You can also visit  Bladon where Churchill’s grave is located.  The pub is no more than a 10 minute drive to Blenheim Palace and Woodstock.

What our visitors say ....

Really good quality food that doesn't take too much time to come out. Beautiful location and decent sized pub garden with seating area. (Via Trip Advisor)

Our group of remaining wedding guests, including bride and groom, from the previous day's wedding had an excellent Sunday lunch. We had booked and they set up several tables for our group. The food was well cooked and presented and the staff very friendly and helpful. My roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was particularly good as were the desserts. A very pleasant, relaxing lunch. Thoroughly recommended. (Via Trip Advisor)

Good family pub, Very good atmosphere with great food and service! Made our six year old very welcome indeed. (Via Facebook)
